Getting started

What SHARA is, where it runs and how the tools behave.

What is SHARA?

SHARA is a Windows app for people who teach, present and record on screen. One overlay gives you a cursor halo that flashes on every click, a pen and laser that draw over any app, four zoom modes and an on-screen keystroke display, all in a docked toolbar or the Ctrl+Space SHARA Wheel (every SHARA hotkey). See every feature.

Which Windows versions does SHARA run on? Is there a Mac version?

SHARA runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 and installs from the Microsoft Store. There is no macOS version. On a Mac, Presentify and Cursor Pro cover similar ground, and if you’ve moved from a Mac to a Windows PC, our feature list shows what SHARA does.

How do I install SHARA?

Use the Microsoft Store button on this page. It opens SHARA in the Microsoft Store, where you install it like any Store app. There is no account to create and no card to enter. Once it’s installed, press Ctrl+Space anywhere to open the SHARA Wheel under your cursor, or use the docked toolbar at the edge of your screen.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No account, ever. You need a connection to download SHARA from the Microsoft Store, like any Store app. After that SHARA works offline with zero telemetry, and the network is used only to buy or restore Pro, so it works the same on a train, in a locked-down classroom or on a client’s network.

What is the SHARA Wheel?

The Wheel is SHARA’s radial menu. Hold Ctrl+Space to open it at your cursor, move over a slice and release to pick it, or tap to pin it open. The full Wheel stays available on Free: Laser, Pen, Erase, Arrow and Text work, and Pro slices stay visible and unlock during the trial or after purchase.

Is there a toolbar, or only the Wheel?

Both, and you can switch at any time. The docked toolbar sits at an edge of your screen with every tool one click away. The Wheel opens at your pointer when you hold Ctrl+Space and leaves nothing on screen when you let go. They hold the same tools, and the toolbar’s last button turns it into the Wheel.

Can I draw over any app, or only over slides?

Any app on your screen: VS Code, a PowerPoint deck, a browser, Excel or Revit. SHARA draws over live apps, so the window underneath keeps running and never freezes into a screenshot. The first Esc leaves your ink on screen while you keep clicking and scrolling in that app.

How do I undo, stop drawing or wipe the screen?

Ctrl+Z undoes your last stroke, and pressing Esc exits annotation instantly. After that first Esc your ink stays on screen while you use your apps normally, and a second Esc erases all ink and shapes. Ctrl+Win+B also clears everything, and undo reaches back 32 steps, including a Clear All.

Can I change the cursor halo’s size and color?

Yes. In SHARA’s settings you can set the halo’s shape (Circle, Squircle or Rhombus), its size (Small, Medium or Large) and its color. Every click flashes white for free; giving left and right clicks their own colors is Pro.

What zoom modes does SHARA have?

Four, all in SHARA Pro: the picture-in-picture Magnifier (also called the Zooming Lens), Live Zoom (full screen, zooming the live screen), Spotlight dim and the 9:16 Vertical Broadcast Window. Hold Ctrl+Win+G for the mode you’ve chosen in settings.

What does the keystroke display show?

The Smart Keystroke Pill picks one of six modes automatically: a modifier being held, a finished shortcut, typing shown as words, single command keys like Enter or F5 with repeat counts, Privacy Mode in password fields, and mouse clicks and scrolls. Turn on Shortcuts Only to hide mouse clicks and scrolls, so only your keyboard keystrokes show. It’s part of SHARA Pro.

Does SHARA record my screen?

No. SHARA doesn’t record anything. It draws the halo, ink, zoom and keystrokes on an overlay, and the tool you already use captures it when you share or record the entire screen: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, OBS or Camtasia. That keeps SHARA light and means there are no recordings to manage or leak.

Ready to try it? SHARA is free, with every Pro tool unlocked for your first 14 days.

Free vs Pro and licensing

What’s free, what Pro adds, and how the one-time license works.

Is SHARA free?

Yes, with no expiry. The cursor halo with its click flash, the docked toolbar, SHARA Wheel, Laser, Pen, Eraser, Arrow, text labels and screenshots are free forever, with undo, Clear All and straight-line assist. There is no watermark, stroke limit or session limit on free annotation. The table below shows exactly what SHARA Pro adds.

Is SHARA Pro a subscription?

No. Free forever tier. SHARA Pro is a $19.99 one-time lifetime license with a 14-day money-back guarantee, usable across your personal Windows devices via the Microsoft Store. You pay once, and there is nothing to renew.

How does the 14-day Pro trial work?

Every new install unlocks all Pro features for 14 days, and no card is needed. When the trial ends, SHARA returns to the free tier without deleting your settings, and the free tools keep working offline. Nothing is charged unless you decide to buy Pro.

How do I buy and activate SHARA Pro?

Buy at sharacursor.com/buy, with secure checkout by Paddle; your purchase email is registered instantly. Install SHARA free from the Microsoft Store, open SHARA’s System tab, click Unlock Now, then Restore Purchase with your email. All Pro features activate immediately.

Why do I buy on sharacursor.com but install from the Microsoft Store?

The Microsoft Store installs SHARA and keeps it updated, and Paddle handles the Pro payment at sharacursor.com/buy. Your purchase email connects the two: Restore Purchase in SHARA’s System tab unlocks Pro on any PC where you enter it.

Can I use SHARA Pro on more than one PC?

Yes. Free forever tier. SHARA Pro is a $19.99 one-time lifetime license with a 14-day money-back guarantee, usable across your personal Windows devices via the Microsoft Store. On each of your PCs, open the System tab, click Unlock Now and restore your purchase with the same email. There is no account to create and no seat to renew.

Can I get a refund on SHARA Pro?

Yes. SHARA Pro comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee, so if it isn’t right for you, you can get your money back within 14 days of buying. Every install also includes a 14-day Pro trial, so you can test every Pro tool in real meetings and recordings before you pay. Refund policy.

Meetings and recording

Will your audience see what you draw? Yes, with one setting to get right.

Share entire screen: SHARA’s overlay is seen
Share one window: the overlay is left out

Will people in Zoom, Teams or Google Meet see my annotations?

Yes, when you share your entire screen. SHARA’s overlays render on a system layer captured natively by Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and OBS, so your ink, halo, zoom and keystrokes reach everyone on the call. Presenting in Zoom and Teams covers the setup.

Why doesn’t SHARA show up when I share a single window?

Because a single-window share in Zoom or Teams sends only that app’s window, and SHARA draws on its own layer above your apps, so the halo, ink and zoom are left out. Stop sharing, start again and choose your entire screen or the monitor you present on. Everything SHARA draws then goes to the meeting.

Does SHARA work with OBS and Camtasia?

Yes. An OBS Display Capture source records SHARA’s overlays with no plugin, and Camtasia Recorder captures them too, full screen or a region. For Shorts and Reels, SHARA Pro’s 9:16 Vertical Broadcast Window follows your cursor smoothly while you record. More on screen recording.

Will viewers see the SHARA Wheel when I open it?

Not with Presenter Mode on. It hides the Ctrl+Space Wheel from screen capture while keeping it visible to you, so attendees and recordings see the pen or zoom appear but never the menu you picked it from.

Privacy and IT

Why SHARA is safe on work, school and client machines.

Does SHARA collect any data?

No. SHARA sends no telemetry, analytics or crash reports, and it needs no account. Everything runs on your local GPU, and the only network use is buying or restoring Pro. What you draw, zoom into or type stays on your PC. Privacy policy.

Is the keystroke display a keylogger?

No. It reads key presses only to draw them on your own screen. SHARA sends no telemetry and uses the network only to buy or restore Pro, so nothing about your keystrokes leaves your PC.

What happens if I type a password while keystrokes are showing?

Nothing shows. SHARA detects when you click into a password, PIN or credential field and silently switches to Privacy Mode, suppressing all keystroke display until you leave that field. There is nothing to configure, and it works in every app.

Can I install SHARA on a work or school laptop?

Yes, if your IT team allows Microsoft Store apps. SHARA installs from the Microsoft Store, which many managed Windows fleets already allow, and it runs offline with no account. On a company- or school-managed laptop, whether you can install Store apps is decided by your IT team, so check with them first.

Performance and displays

How SHARA behaves next to heavy apps, big screens and other tools.

Will SHARA slow down my PC, my apps or my video call?

It’s designed not to. SHARA is GPU-rendered with 1000 Hz input response. Lightweight background process running on your GPU with zero telemetry. It draws on its own overlay layer and never freezes the app underneath, so you can annotate VS Code, a PowerPoint deck or a Revit model while the call carries on.

Does SHARA work with multiple monitors and 4K displays?

Yes. SHARA uses calibrated coordinate mapping across all Windows scaling factors, so a 4K main display at 150% and a 1080p monitor at 100% side by side both keep the halo centered and your ink aligned, even as the cursor crosses between them.

Does SHARA work with a stylus or pen tablet?

Yes. SHARA reads a pen or a tablet in Windows Ink mode directly, so you can draw with the tip. The barrel button acts as a right click and never draws. If a pen stops drawing, set Pen tablets to Mouse in SHARA’s settings. There is no pressure sensitivity: strokes are drawn at a fixed thickness you set.

Can I run SHARA alongside PowerToys or ZoomIt?

Yes. SHARA’s default hotkeys don’t clash with PowerToys Mouse Highlighter (Win+Shift+H) or ZoomIt (Ctrl+1), and every SHARA hotkey can be remapped. Keep one cursor highlighter on at a time, or your clicks will show two effects.

Support

Updates, removal, and how to reach a person.

How does SHARA get updates?

Through the Microsoft Store. SHARA never downloads anything on its own. The Store delivers new versions the same way it does for your other Store apps: automatically, unless you’ve turned off app updates in the Store’s settings.

I bought Pro but SHARA still shows the free tier. What now?

Open SHARA’s System tab, click Unlock Now, then Restore Purchase, and enter the exact email you used at checkout. If Pro still doesn’t unlock, email support with that purchase email and your Windows version, and we’ll find the order.

How do I uninstall SHARA?

Open Windows Settings, go to Apps, then Installed apps (Apps & features on Windows 10), find SHARA and choose Uninstall. You can also right-click SHARA in the Start menu and pick Uninstall. SHARA has no account or cloud data to delete afterwards.

How do I contact SHARA support?

Email info@sharacursor.com or use the support contact page. Include your Windows version and, for a Pro question, the email you bought with, so we can find your purchase straight away.
