Cursor Pro for Windows: the same polished pointer, free
Cursor Pro kept your Mac pointer easy to follow in screen shares and tutorials. SHARA is the Cursor Pro alternative for Windows: a smooth halo that follows your pointer and flashes on every click, and that part is free forever.
Everything Cursor Pro did, and what it costs on Windows
Cursor Pro does two jobs: it makes the pointer obvious and it magnifies what’s under it. The first job is free in SHARA.
| Your Cursor Pro habit | Where it lives in SHARA | How you reach it |
|---|---|---|
| A shape around the pointer | ✓Cursor halo in Circle, Squircle or Rhombus FREE | Ctrl+Win+H |
| Size, colour and border | ✓Three sizes, any colour, solid border FREE | SHARA settings |
| Motion that feels alive | ✓Glow, spring motion and 3D tilt PRO | Built in |
| Click effects | ✓White flash on every click FREE | Always on with the halo |
| Left and right click colours | ✓Own colour per button, and a ripple PRO | SHARA settings |
| Magnifier on a shortcut | ✓Magnifier lens that follows the cursor PRO | Ctrl+Win+G (hold) |
| Option-click to switch off | ✓Master Toggle hides every overlay FREE | Ctrl+Win+Z |
| Hide when the pointer rests | ~Switch the halo off and on by hotkey | Ctrl+Win+H |
| Easy to find on big displays | ✓DPI-calibrated for 4K and multi-monitor FREE | Automatic |
| Custom global shortcuts | ✓Every global hotkey is configurable FREE | SHARA settings |
| Automation through Shortcuts.app | ✕No macOS Shortcuts equivalent | Use the hotkeys |
The halo and click flash are free forever. Install it and your pointer is easy to follow in the next call.
What you gain on Windows, and what works differently
If a highlighted pointer was all you used on your Mac, you may never pay for SHARA. Here is where the two apps differ.
A pointer tool that also draws
The same free tier adds a Laser with a fading trail, a Pen, an Arrow, text labels and an Eraser, plus screenshots, so you can circle a button instead of waving the cursor around it. Ctrl+Win+X to draw, Esc to stop.
More than one kind of zoom
Beyond the Magnifier: Live Zoom for the whole screen (scroll to zoom, move to pan), Spotlight dim, and a 9:16 Broadcast Window for Shorts and Reels.
The keys you press, on screen
The Smart Keystroke Pill shows shortcuts as key chips and hides itself instantly in password fields. Useful when your tutorial is half mouse, half keyboard.
Where Cursor Pro still has the edge, and other differences
- •The magnifier costs extra. Cursor Pro includes it in its $14.99 price. In SHARA it’s part of Pro ($19.99 once), after the 14-day trial.
- •Zoom factor. Cursor Pro’s listing gives no maximum. SHARA’s Magnifier is adjusted from the Wheel with the arrow keys or mouse wheel, and we don’t publish a maximum.
- •Idle auto-hide. Cursor Pro can hide the highlight while the pointer rests. In SHARA you switch the halo with Ctrl+Win+H.
- •Fewer click effects are free. The free click cue is a white flash; separate left and right click colours and the ripple are Pro.
- •Share the entire screen in calls. In Zoom or Teams, share your entire screen: a single-window share doesn’t capture SHARA’s overlay.
From Mac shortcuts to Windows chords
Cursor Pro mostly runs in the background, and so does the SHARA halo. You only need two or three chords.
| You want to… | Mac habit (Cursor Pro) | Windows chord in SHARA |
|---|---|---|
| Turn the highlight on or off | Your highlight shortcut | Ctrl+Win+H |
| Hide everything before a private window | Option-click the menu bar icon | Ctrl+Win+Z |
| Magnify what’s under the pointer | Your magnifier shortcut | Hold Ctrl+Win+G, release to close |
| Point at something and mark it | Not part of Cursor Pro | Ctrl+Win+X, then Esc |
| Pick any tool from one menu | Not part of Cursor Pro | Ctrl+Space opens the SHARA Wheel, or use the docked toolbar |
See every chord, grouped and printable, on the keyboard shortcuts page.
Why not run Cursor Pro through Wine, Parallels or a VM?
A pointer highlighter has to sit on your real desktop and track your real cursor. None of these workarounds can do that.
Built for the other direction
Wine runs Windows programs on Linux and macOS, not Mac programs on Windows.
Windows inside a Mac
Parallels Desktop runs Windows on Apple hardware, the opposite of your setup.
The wrong cursor
Apple’s licence allows macOS virtual machines only on Apple hardware, and a highlighter inside a VM only sees the VM’s cursor, not the one moving across your Windows apps.
Latency is the whole job for a halo. If it trails the pointer, it distracts instead of guiding. SHARA is GPU-rendered with 1000 Hz input response, so the halo stays locked to the cursor.
Set up your Windows pointer in three steps
“This helped greatly, resulting in faster responses and more accurate actions!”
Microsoft Store review, U.S.A
- Install SHARA free. From the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 or 11. No account, no card, 100% offline.
- See the halo. It is on from the first launch (Ctrl+Win+H switches it off and on); pick the shape, size and colour in settings.
- Try the magnifier during your trial. Hold Ctrl+Win+G. If you keep using it after 14 days, get Pro; if not, SHARA returns to Free and the halo stays.
