How to use the Zoom shortcuts sheet
- Search or scroll. Type what you want to do, such as “mute”, “share” or “chat”, and the list narrows as you type. The group buttons above the list jump straight to a section.
- Learn the first eight. Alt+A, Alt+V, Alt+S, Alt+T, Ctrl+Alt+Shift, Alt+H, Alt+Y and Alt+Q cover most meetings. The rest of the list is there for the day you need it.
- Print it or save the PDF. The Print button prints only the sheet. The PDF is the same list on one page, ready to keep next to your keyboard.
- Make a key global or change it. In the Zoom app open Settings, then Keyboard shortcuts. Edit a key, or tick the box beside it so it works even when Zoom is not the active window.
Zoom says Alt+S, Alt+Shift+S and Alt+T work only when the meeting toolbar has focus. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift first to move focus there, or tick the global box for the key. Some keys need a recent version of Zoom, so update the app if one is missing.
Which key for which moment?
The same keys, sorted by what is happening in the meeting. Every key comes from Zoom’s list, read on October 31, 2026.
| Moment | Press | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Someone starts talking over you | Alt+A | Your microphone mutes. Press Alt+A again to unmute. |
| You are about to present | Alt+S | The share screen window opens. Zoom needs the meeting toolbar to have focus first. |
| You need to find a file mid-share | Alt+T | Your share pauses. Press Alt+T again to resume it. |
| The toolbar is not responding | Ctrl+Alt+Shift | Focus moves to the meeting controls, so the toolbar keys work. |
| The floating controls are in the way | Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H | The floating meeting controls are shown or hidden. |
| Someone has a question | Alt+Y | Your hand goes up. Press it again to lower it. |
| The meeting is over | Alt+Q | Zoom asks whether to end or leave the meeting. |
Tips for using Zoom shortcuts
- Make mute a global key. Tick the global box beside Alt+A in Settings, then Keyboard shortcuts, and you can mute while a slide deck or a browser has focus.
- Pause the share before you switch. Alt+T freezes what viewers see while you open a file or close a private tab, then you resume with the same key.
- Move focus first. When a toolbar key does nothing, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift to put focus on the meeting controls, then try again.
- Hide the floating controls only when you know the way back. Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H shows them again.
- Practise in a test meeting. Start a meeting alone, share a window and press every key you plan to use, before the real call.
Who it is for
Teachers, trainers and speakers
Keep the keys you use rarely, such as pause share and the floating controls, on one sheet beside the keyboard. Pair it with the presentation timer so the clock and the call are both under your hands.
People sharing slides in a call
When you present in Zoom you cannot fumble for menus. If the deck is PowerPoint, the PowerPoint shortcuts sheet covers the slide show side.
Privacy
The sheet runs in your browser. The search filters the list on your device, and what you type is never sent or saved. The site counts visits and tool use in aggregate, such as “search used”, and never your words. The PDF is a plain file with no tracking in it.

Zoom’s meeting keys do not include one for its annotate tools, and those depend on the meeting’s settings. SHARA’s Pen, Laser and Arrow are free and draw over any Windows app, and the cursor halo and click flash keep your pointer easy to follow. The Whiteboard and Live Zoom are included free for your first 14 days, then it’s a one-time upgrade.
Free forever: cursor halo, click animation, Pen, Laser, Arrow, Text, Eraser, Screenshot and the Ctrl+Space Wheel. Every Pro tool is free for your first 14 days, with no card and no account. After that, Pro is a one-time purchase ($19.99 in the US).
